2024 Native Plants and Grasses. They’re Great For Pollinators.
The HCMG Plant Sale will have over 5200 Native Plants and Grasses, 50% more than last year and comprising more than 120 varieties.
Native Plants, including wildflowers, grasses, and sedges, are the foundation of our natural ecosystems and provide food and shelter for Minnesota’s wildlife, including beneficial insects. They produce nectar, pollen, and seeds that serve as food for native birds, butterflies, bees, and other wildlife. They also serve as larval host plants for pollinators by providing food and shelter when the larvae are most vulnerable.
Natives have grown in popularity as landscaping plants due to their low nutrient requirements, drought tolerance, and role in soil stabilization. The deep roots of native plants hold soil and prevent erosion. Once established they rarely need special attention. *
Natives bring color and texture to your garden throughout the year. Make your garden into a wildlife sanctuary!
