Ask a Master Gardener

Master Gardeners are volunteers trained by the University of Minnesota Extension to answer all your home gardening questions. Master Gardeners will provide you with the latest university research-based information. What you won’t get is untested, unproven or potentially dangerous solutions. Be patient though, if we don’t know the answer, we’ll ask to get back with you so we can go find the best answer for your question.

Yard & Garden Line: (612) 301-7590

Got Gardening Questions? The Yard & Garden Phone Line at the MN Landscape Arboretum has the answers! Staffed by Master Gardener volunteers from Hennepin and other counties, the Yard & Garden Line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling (612) 301-7590.

Our message center will take your questions and information. Please remember to leave your name, phone number, best time to reach you, and a description of your gardening question. A Master Gardener volunteer will research your question for free and return your call. The line is staffed by volunteers Monday – Saturday.

Plant specimens for cultural, disease and insect identification, as well as weed and other plant identifications, can be submitted the Extension office in Eden Prairie. We request that all specimens be sealed in a zip lock bag where possible and always include a name, address and telephone number. There is a small fee for this service.
