Selecting your Varieties

Ready to be more deliberate in the variety choices you make for your vegetable garden but are overloaded by all the technical information? From sourcing to seed saving, we’ll break down the process of choosing the most appropriate varieties to make your vegetable garden lush and plentiful.

This class will cover common terms and language used to describe vegetable varieties including: types of seeds, responsible sourcing, growing needs, and harvest expectations.

This class is part of a series called: Winter Dreaming for Summer Eating Series. A series of classes presented over four weeks by Hennepin County Master Gardeners. These classes are free to attend, and you need only register once for the entire series. Each class will take place on a Saturday and will be repeated the following Tuesday.

What does a gardener ponder about during the cold winter days? Dream about their summer vegetable garden, of course. Take a deeper dive to learn what you can spend your time planning, selecting and doing while waiting for the outdoor season to begin again. This series of classes provides a post-beginner view of how to plan and get ready for your herb and vegetable garden.
