Designing Your Vegetable Garden

Designed to help begin or enhance your garden. We will cover how climate change is impacting Minnesota and factors to consider as you are planning your garden. Topics covered will include climate change information that is relevant to Minnesota gardeners, soil health and testing, plant selection, companion planting, garden types, and watering methods.

This class will cover key topics one needs to consider in planning a vegetable garden and addressing challenges associated with climate change.

This class is part of a series called: Winter Dreaming for Summer Eating Series. A series of classes presented over four weeks by Hennepin County Master Gardeners. These classes are free to attend, and you need only register once for the entire series. Each class will take place on a Saturday and will be repeated the following Tuesday.

What does a gardener ponder about during the cold winter days? Dream about their summer vegetable garden, of course.  Take a deeper dive to learn what you can spend your time planning, selecting and doing while waiting for the outdoor season to begin again. This series of classes provides a post-beginner view of how to plan and get ready for your herb and vegetable garden.
